What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RV2011-1JA15-ZW97 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker designed to protect motors and feeders against overload and short-circuit. It is a current-production part, still in active manufacture. Rated for Class 10 trip characteristics, it clears overloads fast enough to protect standard induction motors during stall or jam conditions. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the line side trips the breaker before single-phasing damages the motor windings. The interrupting rating at 400 V is 100 kA, which means it can safely clear a bolted fault up to that level without rupturing or cascading to upstream devices. At 690 V the rating drops to 4 kA, still adequate for most industrial distribution systems.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The 45 mm width (three module spaces) fits standard enclosure rail. Any mounting position is allowed, so it can be installed sideways in tight gland-plate areas without derating. Depth is 97 mm, height 97 mm — a compact cube that leaves room alongside contactors and relays in a motor control center bucket.
