Motor protection with Class 10 trip and phase failure detection
The Siemens 3RV2021-1DA20-ZX95 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker designed for motor protection. Its Class 10 trip characteristic means it disconnects within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during a locked-rotor event while riding through normal starting inrush. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the line side trips the breaker instead of letting the motor single-phase and overheat. The breaker is rated for a 100 kA breaking capacity at 400 V AC and 500 V AC, and 10 kA at 690 V — high enough to handle most industrial fault-current scenarios without requiring an upstream current-limiting fuse for SCCR compliance.
Mounting and wiring for panel integration
Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715 in any position. The 45 mm width fits standard 45 mm-wide DIN-rail slots — one module position in most panel layouts. Terminals are spring-loaded, accepting 2x 1 to 10 mm² solid or stranded wire. Depth is 97 mm, height 119 mm. Clearance requirements: 50 mm upward, 50 mm downward, 30 mm at the side; zero forward or backward clearance needed. That side clearance is tighter than many breakers — useful when packing multiple units side-by-side in a crowded enclosure.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The lifecycle stage is listed as current, meaning the manufacturer continues to produce and support this order code. No successor has been assigned. For BOM-line commitment, the part is sourced and quoted to order against an RFQ through independent distribution; availability and current pricing are confirmed at quote time.
