Breaking capacity and motor protection coordination
The 3RV2031-4JA10 is a SIRIUS circuit breaker designed for motor protection, offering a rated breaking capacity of 30 kA at 400 V and 2 kA at 690 V. This SCCR rating determines the maximum fault current the device can safely interrupt without upstream coordination changes. Trip Class 10 means the bimetal releases within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting current — this protects standard squirrel-cage motors during locked-rotor starts without nuisance tripping on normal acceleration. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the supply side will trip the breaker before single-phasing damages the motor winding.
Panel integration and mounting
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, in any orientation. The 55 mm width and 149 mm depth fit standard distribution panel layouts with 10 mm side clearance and 50 mm vertical clearance above and below. Screw-type terminals on the main current circuit accept up to 2× 35 mm² or 1× 50 mm² solid or stranded copper — sized for motor branch circuits up to 65 A at 480 V or 62 A at 600 V. Operating temperature range is -20 to +60 °C, with storage and transport tolerance from -50 to +80 °C, covering most indoor and sheltered outdoor enclosures.
