What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RV2311-0GC10 is a SIRIUS-branded circuit breaker designed specifically for starter combinations — meaning it integrates motor branch protection and disconnecting means in one device. It carries a 100 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V through 690 V AC, which is the figure that governs fault-clearing in a motor control center: if the available fault current at the panelboard is 65 kA, this breaker has headroom to spare. The S00 frame size (45 mm wide, 97 mm deep, 97 mm tall) is the smallest in the SIRIUS family, sized for compact motor starter assemblies where panel space is tight.
Mounting and clearances
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm standard mounting rail per DIN EN 60715. The clearance requirements are specific: 50 mm upwards, 50 mm downwards, 30 mm to the side, and zero forwards or backwards — so it can sit flush against a gland plate or back panel without derating. Any mounting position is allowed, which simplifies layout in a crowded enclosure.
Termination and wiring
Main current circuit uses screw-type terminals (M3 for the main contacts). Accepts 2x 0.75 to 2.5 mm² solid or stranded, or 2x 4 mm². The screwdriver spec calls for a Pozidriv size 2 tip with a shaft diameter of 5 to 6 mm — not a common Philips, so make sure the panel builder has the right bit. No ground-fault or phase-failure detection built in; this is a straight thermal-magnetic or magnetic-only breaker for overload and short-circuit protection.
Environmental and operational limits
Rated voltage span is 20 to 690 V, covering most low-voltage industrial systems. Operating temperature range is -20 to +60 °C; storage and transport extend to -50 to +80 °C. The maximum switching rate under AC-3 duty (motor starting) is 15 operations per hour — fine for a conveyor or pump that cycles a few times an hour, not for a high-speed indexing application. The rated power at 230 V is 0.1 kW, which suggests this variant is set for a low-current motor branch (likely a 0.16 A to 0.63 A thermal setting based on the 480 V and 600 V current ratings of 0.63 A).
