What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RV2332-4KC10 is a SIRIUS circuit breaker designed specifically for starter combinations — meaning it integrates both motor protection and short-circuit protection in a single device, sized to coordinate with a contactor in a motor starter assembly. It snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715 and accepts screw-type terminals for the main current circuit, with a wire range of 2x (1 to 35 mm²) solid or stranded, or 1x (1 to 50 mm²).
Breaking capacity — what the numbers mean
The interrupting rating tells you the maximum fault current this breaker can safely clear at a given voltage. At 400 V AC the 3RV2332-4KC10 is rated for 50 kA, at 240 V AC for 100 kA, at 500 V AC for 8 kA, and at 690 V AC for 4 kA. For a 400 V panel with an available fault current of 50 kA or less, this breaker is a direct fit. The 100 kA rating at 240 V covers high-fault residential or light commercial subfeeds.
Motor power coverage
The breaker covers motor loads up to 22 kW at 230 V, 25 hp at 220/230 V, 50 hp at 460/480 V, and 60 hp at 575/600 V — spanning the common three-phase motor sizes across North American and IEC voltage systems.
Mounting and integration
Mounting position is any orientation. The device measures 55 mm wide, 140 mm high, and 149 mm deep — a standard SIRIUS footprint that fits alongside contactors and overload relays on the same DIN rail. Clearance requirements: 50 mm upward and downward, 10 mm to the side, zero forward or backward. No additional clearance is needed at 240 V.
