What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 3RV2811-4AD10 is a SIRIUS-branded circuit breaker specifically designed for transformer protection per UL 489 and CSA C22.2 No.5. It occupies the S00 frame size — 45 mm wide, 97 mm deep, 144 mm tall — and mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. Mounting position is any, which simplifies panel layout when space is tight. Breaking capacity is the headline here: 100 kA at 240 V AC, 55 kA at 400 V AC, 10 kA at 500 V AC, and 4 kA at 690 V AC. That 100 kA at 240 V means it can safely interrupt a fault up to that level without cascading upstream — critical for transformer primary protection where inrush and fault currents can be severe.
Mounting and wiring details
Screw-type terminals on the main current circuit accept 1 to 10 mm² solid or stranded, up to 2×10 mm². The screwdriver shaft should be 5 to 6 mm diameter. Main contact screws are M4. Clearance requirements: 70 mm upwards and downwards, 30 mm at the sides, 0 mm forwards and backwards — so it can sit flush against the back panel or a busbar, but needs breathing room above and below for arc venting and cable entry.
Environmental limits
Operating temperature range is -20 to +60 °C; storage and transport range is -50 to +80 °C. The storage limit governs handling and warehousing, not running conditions. Rated operating voltage spans 20 to 690 V. No ground-fault or phase-failure detection built in — that's external if needed.
