What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RV6011-1GA10 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker, size S00, designed to protect three-phase motors up to 6.3 A at 400 V AC-3 duty. That AC-3 rating means it's built for switching motor loads under full load — starting and stopping an induction motor, not just resistive heaters. The thermal-magnetic trip combines a Class 10 thermal overload release for motor heating protection and a magnetic short-circuit trip for fast fault clearing. It carries a 690 V maximum rated value across the main circuit, so it's comfortable on 400 V or 480 V systems.
Mounting and panel fit
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto standard 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The 45 mm width and 96 mm depth fit neatly into a standard motor control center bucket or a small enclosure — you can stack several side-by-side in a 600 mm wide panel. Any mounting position is allowed, so vertical or horizontal orientation in a tight cabinet works fine. Clearance: 50 mm above and below, 30 mm to the sides, zero forward or backward — so you can butt it against a backplate or a door without extra breathing room.
What the ratings mean for your motor circuit
The 6.3 A operational current at AC-3 400 V is the key number for motor sizing — it's the full-load current the breaker can carry continuously and trip on overload. Class 10 trip means it will open within 10 seconds at 7.2x the set current, which protects standard squirrel-cage induction motors during locked-rotor conditions. The magnetic short-circuit trip clears fast on a bolted fault, keeping upstream selective coordination intact. Rated impulse withstand voltage of 6 kV gives it decent surge immunity for industrial environments. Power loss is 6 W typical — negligible for thermal budget in a ventilated panel.
Termination and wiring
Screw-type terminals on top and bottom for the main circuit. Accepts two conductors per pole: solid or stranded up to 2x 2.5 mm² or 2x 4 mm², or AWG 2x (18 to 12) and 2x (20 to 16). Finely stranded with ferrules also accepted. Torque range 0.8 to 1.2 N·m — use a torque screwdriver to avoid terminal damage. Operating temperature range -20 to +60 °C covers most indoor industrial environments; storage range -50 to +80 °C.
