Soft starter for small motor loads — what the ratings mean
The 3RW3017-2BB04: The 24 V control coil matches standard PLC-level signals (50/60 Hz both accepted), so no separate control transformer is needed if your panel already runs 24 VAC. An integrated bypass contact system means the thyristors are shorted out once the motor is up to speed — this cuts heat dissipation in the enclosure and avoids derating the starter for continuous bypass current.
Mounting and wiring in a control panel
Screw and snap-on mounting onto DIN rail — the S00 frame is 45 mm wide, 120 mm tall, 150 mm deep, so it fits a standard 8-module-wide enclosure with room for the 60 mm upward and 40 mm downward clearance. No screwdriver torque check needed; the cage holds the wire.
Sourcing and lifecycle — active production
Current production — this is not a legacy or phase-out line. The SIRIUS soft starter family remains a standard Siemens catalog item, so OEM and MRO replenishment is straightforward through distribution.
