What the 25 A rating means in a panel
The 3RW3026-2BB14: An integrated bypass contact system shorts the thyristors once the motor reaches full speed, eliminating the semiconductor conduction losses during run — the soft starter then dissipates only the bypass contactor's heat, not the full I²R of the SCRs. This means the enclosure heat load during steady-state is lower than a non-bypassed design, a real advantage in a densely packed panel. Control supply is 110-230 V DC, a wide-range input that accepts common DC bus voltages without a separate power supply — useful when the panel already carries a 110 V or 220 V DC rail for PLCs and contactors.
Mounting and wiring — DIN rail fit and terminal access
The mounting position allows ±10° rotation and tilt relative to vertical, so it fits in enclosures where the rail isn't perfectly plumb. Clearance requirements: 60 mm above, 40 mm below, 15 mm to the side — these are the minimum air gaps for airflow and arc containment. The wire length to the motor is capped at 300 m, which matters for long cable runs where capacitive charging current could nuisance-trip the starter. Main circuit terminals are spring-loaded, accepting 16-8 AWG. Auxiliary and control circuit terminals are also spring-loaded, taking 24-14 AWG. The front clamping point handles 8 AWG or two 16-10 AWG conductors — useful for daisy-chaining control power without a separate terminal block.
Environmental and compliance — industrial duty
The storage classification per IEC 60721 includes occasional condensation (class 1K6) and no salt mist (1C2) — not suitable for coastal outdoor installation without additional enclosure protection.
