What the 32 A rating means on this SIRIUS soft starter
The 3RW3027-2BB04: That 40 °C baseline is the typical panel internal temperature; if your enclosure runs hotter, the continuous current ceiling drops — plan the motor FLA against the derated figure at your actual ambient, not the 32 A headline. The integrated bypass contact system means once the motor reaches full speed, the thyristors are shorted out by an internal contactor — no external bypass contactor to wire, and the silicon junctions cool to near-ambient during run. This is the main differentiator from a basic soft starter that leaves the SCRs in circuit and burns heat continuously.
Panel integration — size S0 and terminal style
Size S0 frame measures 150 mm high x 45 mm wide x 150 mm deep. That 45 mm width is a single 9 mm DIN-rail module pitch — it occupies one slot. Screw and snap-on mounting lets you either clip it onto the DIN rail or screw-fix it to a backplate; the snap-on is faster for panel builds. Spring-loaded terminals on both the main current circuit and the auxiliary/control circuit — no screwdriver required for the power wires or the 24 V control loop. The main circuit accepts 16 to 8 AWG; the auxiliary side takes 24 to 14 AWG. Solid conductors and ferruled stranded both lock in without retorquing. Clearance zones: 60 mm above, 40 mm below, 15 mm at the sides. Those are the ventilation gaps — stack them tighter and the thyristor heatsink loses airflow, pulling the derating curve down. The mounting position allows ±10° rotation and ±10° tilt forward/back, so you can angle it in a tight cabinet as long as the natural convection path isn't blocked.
What it doesn't do — external protection you must add
This soft starter has no motor overload protection, no intrinsic device protection, no adjustable current limitation, and no motor brake output. That means you need an external overload relay in the motor circuit, a separate upstream short-circuit protection device (MCCB or fuses), and a standalone brake controller if the application requires DC injection braking. The minimum load is 10 % — it won't start a motor that draws less than 3.2 A at 40 °C.
No official successor or cross-reference is listed, so the 3RW3027-2BB04 is the active part for new builds and MRO spares.
