Size S0 frame, 45 mm wide — panel fit
The 3RW4024-2BB15 is a SIRIUS soft starter in the size S0 frame, 45 mm wide, 150 mm tall, and 155 mm deep. The mounting position is flexible: with an additional fan, the unit can be rotated ±90° on a vertical surface or tilted ±22.5° front-to-back; without a fan, rotation is limited to ±10° and tilt to ±10°.
Current ratings and thermal derating
Rated operating current is 12.5 A at 40°C, derating to 11 A at 50°C and 10 A at 60°C. The derating temperature threshold is 40°C, so above that ambient the continuous current must be reduced per the published curve. The minimum load is 20% of the rated current, which means the soft starter needs at least about 2.5 A of motor current to regulate properly — below that, the thyristor firing angle may not maintain consistent conduction.
Integrated bypass and protection features
An integrated bypass contact system switches the thyristors out of the circuit once the motor reaches full speed, eliminating heat dissipation in the power semiconductors during continuous run. This extends the service life and reduces panel cooling requirements. Motor overload protection and intrinsic device protection are built in, along with adjustable current limitation. The unit also supports an external reset input for remote fault clearing.
Termination and wiring
Both the main current circuit and the auxiliary/control circuit use spring-loaded terminals — no screw tightening needed, which speeds up panel wiring and eliminates torque verification. The main circuit accepts 1x 8 mm² or 2x (16 to 10) mm² conductors; the auxiliary circuit accepts 2x (24 to 14) AWG. Maximum motor cable length is 300 m, which covers most installations without needing output reactors for reflected wave protection.
Environmental and compliance
Storage conditions per IEC 60721 include class 1K6 (occasional condensation), 1C2 (no salt mist), 1S2 (limited sand ingress), and 1M4 (mechanical vibration). Insulation voltage is rated at 600 V.
Control supply and frequency
Control supply voltage is 110 to 230 V DC, covering common industrial control voltages without needing an external power supply. Operating frequency is 50 to 60 Hz, matching global line frequencies. The unit does not support inside-delta circuit configuration and has no integrated motor brake output — these are constraints to check against the motor circuit design.
