The 3RW4047-1TB05: The derating temperature is 40 °C, so above that the current must be reduced per the curve — a panel builder sizing for a 55 °C enclosure interior should budget the 98 A figure, not the 106 A headline.
Mounting and panel integration
The S3 frame measures 170 mm high, 70 mm wide, and 190 mm deep. Clearance requirements: 60 mm above, 40 mm below, and 30 mm at the sides. Without an additional fan, the mounting surface must be vertical with only ±10° rotation and ±10° tilt — this restricts placement in angled sub-panels.
Wiring and terminal capacity
Main circuit terminals accept screw-type connections: 2x (10 … 70 mm²) stranded or 2x (10 … 50 mm²) finely stranded. The auxiliary contact terminals take 2x (20 … 14 AWG) solid. Maximum wire length to the motor is 300 m — beyond that, voltage drop and reflected-wave effects on the soft starter output need evaluation.
Protection and control features
Built-in motor overload protection and intrinsic device protection are standard. The adjustable current limitation lets the integrator set the starting current below the motor's locked-rotor value — minimum load is 20% of the rated current. An external reset input is provided for remote restart after a fault.
