81 A at 40 °C, derated to 64 A at 60 °C
The 3RW4424-3BC35: The derating curve matters if this lives in a hot panel — a 40 °C enclosure interior is optimistic in a Gulf Coast summer. The integrated bypass contact system pulls the thyristors out of circuit after start, which cuts heat generation during run and keeps the enclosure rise lower than a non-bypassed starter. Minimum load is 8 % of rated current — below that, the motor current may drop below the thyristor holding current and the starter drops out. Check the motor no-load amps against this threshold.
Panel fit and wiring — 170 x 192 x 270 mm
Envelope is 170 mm wide, 192 mm high, 270 mm deep — screw fixing, not DIN-rail snap-on. The depth is the dimension that surprises panel builders: 270 mm means the back of the enclosure needs clearance for the body plus the 100 mm upward and 75 mm downward bending radius for the power cables. Side clearance is only 5 mm, so adjacent devices can sit tight. Main circuit uses box terminals accepting 2x (4... 50 mm²) stranded or 2x (10... 1/0 AWG). The control coil is 115 V at 50/60 Hz — confirm the control transformer taps.
Inside-delta wiring and adjustable current limit
Supports inside-delta connection, which lets a smaller-frame starter handle a given motor FLA by wiring the thyristors in the delta legs rather than the line. Adjustable current limitation sets the start current ceiling as a percentage of the starter's rated current — useful for soft-starting conveyors or pumps that can't take a full-voltage kick. Motor overload protection and intrinsic device protection are both onboard. External reset allows remote fault clearing.
