Current rating and thermal derating
The 3RW4425-1BC34: The derating temperature threshold is 40 °C — above that, the continuous current capacity drops linearly. For a panel build in a 50 °C environment, budget the 88 A figure as the usable ceiling, not the 99 A nameplate. The 8% minimum load setting means the soft starter can regulate starting torque down to very light loads without tripping — useful for unloaded conveyors or pump start-ups against a closed valve.
Integrated bypass and protection
An integrated bypass contact system means the thyristors are shorted out once the motor reaches full speed, eliminating SCR conduction losses during run. This keeps the enclosure cooler and lets the unit handle higher duty cycles than a soft starter without bypass. Motor overload protection and intrinsic device protection are both built in — no separate overload relay needed in the power circuit. The adjustable current limitation lets you cap inrush to a percentage of the motor FLA, which is the main parameter for coordinating with upstream MCCBs.
Mounting and panel integration
Screw fixing to a vertical mounting surface, with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt allowance. The 270 mm depth is the dimension that matters for enclosure depth selection — the 170 mm width and 192 mm height are secondary. Clearance requirements: 100 mm upwards, 75 mm downwards, 5 mm at the sides. Box terminals on the main current circuit accept stranded wire from 4 to 50 mm² (2x conductors). The back and front clamping points accept 10 to 2/0 AWG.
