Rated current and thermal derating across the operating range
At 40 °C ambient the 3RW4435-6BC35 delivers 232 A continuous — the headline rating for sizing against motor FLA. Derate to 203 A at 50 °C and 173 A at 60 °C, which governs panel placement when the soft starter shares an enclosure with other heat sources.
Inside-delta wiring and adjustable current limit — what they mean for motor control
Inside-delta circuit configuration lets the soft starter control each motor winding individually, reducing line current to about 58% of the full-voltage starting current. This is the standard wiring for medium-to-large motors where the bypass contactor sits inside the delta loop. Adjustable current limitation allows setting the starting current between 8% and 100% of the rated current — the 8% minimum load rating means the unit can reliably soft-start lightly loaded motors (e.g., centrifugal pumps with closed discharge valves) without dropping out.
Mounting flexibility and cable termination
Screw fixing to a vertical mounting surface; the unit can be rotated ±90° or tilted ±22.5° front-to-back, which helps in retrofits where the existing backplate orientation doesn't match the original. Main circuit connections accept stranded 25–120 mm² or busbar; auxiliary contacts take 0.5–2.5 mm² solid. The 500 m maximum motor cable length (unshielded) covers most plant-floor runs without a reactor.
