281 A at 40 °C — thermal derating drives the real rating
The 40 °C figure is the catalog rating; the 50 °C and 60 °C values are what govern in a warm panel or near a motor. Derating temperature threshold is 40 °C — above that, the continuous current drops linearly. If your enclosure ambient runs at 50 °C, budget for 251 A continuous, not 281 A.
Inside-delta wiring and adjustable current limit
Supports inside-delta circuit connection, which reduces the current through each thyristor leg to 58% of the line current. Useful for larger motors where the soft starter frame size can be dropped one step. Adjustable current limitation lets you set the start current between 8% and 100% of the rated motor current. The minimum load threshold is 8% — below that the starter may not detect the load correctly.
Panel fit: 270 mm deep, screw fixing, pollution degree 3
Dimensions are 270 mm depth × 170 mm width × 200 mm height. Mounting is screw fixing with a vertical mounting surface, rotatable ±90° and tiltable ±22.5° front-to-back — not a DIN-rail snap-on. Pollution degree 3 per IEC 60947-4-2 means it is rated for conductive pollution in industrial atmospheres — no additional conformal coating needed for typical panel environments. Clearance requirements: 100 mm upwards, 75 mm downwards, 5 mm at the sides. The side clearance is tight; the vertical clearance is where the heat rises.
Wiring: main circuit and control connections
Main circuit connection accepts stranded 25–120 mm², finely stranded 16–95 mm², or busbar connection. For the busbar option, the front and back clamping points each take 6–2/0 AWG; using both clamping points accepts up to 2× 1/0 AWG. Auxiliary control wiring uses solid 2× (0.25–1.5 mm²) or finely stranded 2× (24–16 AWG). Maximum wire length from the starter to the motor is 500 m — beyond that, voltage drop and cable capacitance may affect thyristor firing.
