Bypass, inside-delta, and current limitation — what they mean for the motor circuit
An integrated bypass contact system is built in — once the motor reaches full speed, the thyristors are shorted, eliminating semiconductor conduction losses during run. This keeps the enclosure heat load down and avoids an external bypass contactor. Inside-delta circuit wiring is supported, which lets the soft starter control only two phases in a delta-configured motor, reducing the starter current rating to 58% of the motor FLA — a common technique for large motors where the starter frame size would otherwise jump.
