2103 A at 40 °C — the thermal ceiling for continuous duty
The 3RW4466-2BC45: For a panel that runs at 50 °C, budget 1864 A as the hard ceiling for the motor full-load current. The integrated bypass contact system eliminates the need for an external bypass contactor once the motor is at speed. This saves panel space and reduces the heat load from the thyristors during run — the bypass carries the steady-state current, not the semiconductors.
Inside-delta wiring and motor protection
The unit supports inside-delta circuit configuration, which reduces the current through each soft starter phase to 58 % of the line current. For a given motor FLA, this lets you select a smaller-frame soft starter than a standard in-line connection would allow — a meaningful cost and space saving on high-current installations. Motor overload protection and intrinsic device protection are built in, with an adjustable current limitation. The minimum load setting is 8 %, so it handles lightly loaded motors without nuisance tripping. The external reset input allows remote fault clearing from a PLC or pushbutton station. The insulation voltage is rated 690 V, and the pollution degree is 3 per IEC 60947-4-2 — suitable for industrial environments with conductive dust or condensation.
Panel integration — footprint and wiring
The enclosure measures 780 mm high, 575 mm wide, and 292 mm deep. It mounts via screw fixing with a vertical mounting surface, rotatable ±90° and tiltable ±22.5° front-to-back. Clearance requirements: 100 mm upwards, 75 mm downwards, 5 mm at the sides. Main circuit connection uses busbar with stranded cable 70–240 mm², finely stranded 50–240 mm², or solid 2/0–500 kcmil. Maximum motor cable length is 500 m.
