Active production and hazardous-area approvals
The 3RW5072-2AB15: CE and UL/CSA approvals are also present, covering European and North American regulatory jurisdictions.
Rated 200 to 600 V, covering the common 208 V, 400 V, and 480 V industrial line voltages without a separate tap or transformer. The minimum settable motor current is 90 A, with a minimum load of 15 % relative to the smallest settable Ie — so it will not drop a lightly loaded motor into a hard start. Trip class is selectable between Class 10A (preset), 10E, and 20E per IEC 60947-4-2. Class 10A clears the start within 10 seconds at 7× Ie — this is the standard for most pump and fan starts.
Fieldbus connectivity and soft-start algorithms
Onboard PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP mean the starter talks directly to the PLC without an external gateway — the commissioning engineer maps the control word and status word into the drive profile, not a generic Modbus map. PROFIenergy is supported when used with the PROFINET communication module. Soft Torque, Voltage Ramp, and Pump Ramp Down are built in — no option card needed. The analog output defaults to 4-20 mA but can be parameterised to 0-10 V via the High Feature HMI. Auto-reset and remote reset (by cycling control supply voltage) are standard.
Mounting and thermal derating
Screw fixing to the back panel, not DIN rail — the 160 mm width × 230 mm height × 282 mm depth requires a dedicated mounting footprint. Clearance requirements: 100 mm upwards, 75 mm downwards, 10 mm forwards, 5 mm at the sides, 0 mm backwards — the minimum side gap is tight, but the top and bottom gaps must be respected for convection airflow. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, dropping to 12 g / 11 ms if contact lifting is a concern.
