Motor starting in hazardous zones — ATEX, UKEX, IECEx certified
The 3RW5073-2AB14: This soft starter carries ATEX, UKEX, and IECEx certification, enabling direct installation in Zone 1 or Zone 2 motor control centers without an additional isolation barrier between the starter and the hazardous atmosphere. The 200-480 V rated voltage covers the common low-voltage motor networks across 50 Hz and 60 Hz regions, with the control supply accepting 110-250 V at both frequencies.
Trip Class selection and thermal coordination
The 100 A minimum load rating sets the floor for motor FLA matching; below this the internal current sensing may not trigger reliable overload protection, so pair it with a motor whose full-load amps sit at or above 100 A.
Fieldbus integration and analog feedback
The analog output defaults to 4-20 mA and can be parameterized to 0-10 V via the High Feature HMI, feeding motor current or torque back to the control system for process monitoring. PROFIenergy support allows coordinated energy-saving pauses during production idle times when paired with a PROFINET communication module.
Mounting clearances and enclosure fit
Screw fixing to the backplate — no DIN rail adapter — so the panel layout must allow for the 160 mm width, 230 mm height, and 282 mm depth with the following minimum clearances: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm in front, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm behind the mounting surface. The 15 g / 11 ms shock resistance rating means it holds calibration under vibration from nearby contactors or mobile equipment, but above 12 g / 11 ms potential contact lifting may occur — bolt the mounting screws to torque spec.
Active production — sourcing posture
UL and CSA approvals are listed, so the part qualifies for North American panel builds without a separate evaluation file.
