Active production with hazardous-area certifications
The 3RW5074-6AB14: Rated for a minimum motor current of 135 A at 200-480 V, this unit covers medium-horsepower pump, fan, and compressor starts where controlled acceleration protects driven loads.
Trip class and protection coordination
Trip Class 10A (preset), 10E, or 20E per IEC 60947-4-2 lets you match the thermal overload curve to the motor's starting profile — Class 10A clears fast on high-inertia loads, while 20E gives longer ramp time for heavy starts without nuisance tripping. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, dropping to 12 g / 11 ms if contact lifting is a concern — relevant for mobile or vibration-prone installations.
Fieldbus flexibility and pump-specific features
Built-in Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP, plus optional PROFIBUS and PROFINET with the standard communication module, mean this starter drops into most control architectures without a gateway. Soft Torque and Pump Ramp Down reduce mechanical shock on pump systems during start and stop — the voltage ramp and adjustable deceleration limit water hammer in pipelines. The analog output defaults to 4-20 mA but is parameterizable to 0-10 V if you need a speed or current signal back to the PLC.
Mounting and clearance dimensions
Screw fixing to the back panel, with a 160 mm width, 230 mm height, and 282 mm depth — leaves 100 mm clearance above, 75 mm below, 5 mm at the sides, and 10 mm forward for airflow and wiring access. No backwards clearance needed (0 mm), so the unit can sit flush against a rear panel wall.
Sourcing and compliance documentation
ATEX and UKEX add hazardous-area compliance for Zone 1/2 gas or dust environments. Minimum load is 15% of the smallest settable Ie — don't undersize the motor below this threshold or the starter may not detect the load correctly.
