What this soft starter carries for hazardous-area and motor protection
The 3RW5075-6AB15 is a Siemens hybrid soft starter rated for a minimum operating current of 160 A across a voltage range of 200 to 600 V. It carries ATEX, UKEX, and IECEx certification, so it's suited for motor starting in potentially explosive atmospheres — not just standard industrial panels. Trip class is configurable between CLASS 10A, 10E (preset), and 20E per IEC 60947-4-2.
Fieldbus integration and soft-start features
On the communications side, this soft starter supports PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP. That covers most common control networks without needing a separate gateway — a straight drop into a Siemens S7 or Rockwell ControlLogix rack. Soft-start functions include voltage ramp, soft torque, and pump ramp down. The pump ramp down is specifically for preventing water hammer in pump applications — it gradually reduces voltage rather than coasting to a stop. The analog output is configurable as 4-20 mA (default) or 0-10 V via the High Feature HMI parameterization. That gives a direct motor current or voltage feedback signal back to a PLC analog input without an external transducer.
Installation clearances and environmental limits
Mounting is screw fixing, with specified clearances: 100 mm upwards, 75 mm downwards, 10 mm forwards, 5 mm at the side, and 0 mm backwards. Those gaps matter for airflow and arc flash containment — the 100 mm above is the critical one for hot exhaust. If the panel ambient sits at 50 °C, you'll need to reduce the continuous current rating — the derating curve in the manual is the guide. Shock resistance is 15 g for 11 ms, dropping to 12 g / 11 ms with potential contact lifting.
No stock-holding claim — this is a build-to-order or quote-to-order item for most distributors.
