Ratings that govern the motor start
The 3RW5077-2TB15: Minimum set current is 240 A — that's the floor for the overload setting, not the motor FLA. Trip class is selectable between CLASS 10A, 10E (preset), and 20E per IEC 60947-4-2, which defines the maximum allowable stall time before the soft starter trips — 10A for fast starts (e.g., centrifugal pumps), 20E for high-inertia loads like crushers or conveyors.
Fieldbus and motor protection options
Onboard PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP mean this starter integrates directly into most common automation networks without an external gateway. PROFIenergy is supported when paired with the PROFINET communication module, enabling energy-saving standby modes during production pauses. The starter offers voltage ramp, soft torque, and pump ramp down — the latter reduces water hammer on pump stops by gradually reducing torque rather than cutting power abruptly. Remote reset is available by cycling the control supply voltage.
Mounting and environmental fit
Dimensions are 282 mm deep, 160 mm wide, 230 mm high — screw fixing to a vertical panel. The mounting position allows +/-90° rotation and +/-22.5° tilt front-to-back, giving flexibility in tight cabinets. Operating ambient is -25 to +60 °C, but the datasheet notes derating above 40 °C — factor this into the enclosure thermal budget. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, dropping to 12 g / 11 ms if contact lifting is a concern.
Approvals for hazardous and ordinary locations
ATEX and IECEx certified (both marked Yes), meaning this soft starter can be installed in Zone 2 / Zone 22 gas and dust atmospheres when paired with appropriate upstream protection. Also carries CE, UL, and CSA marks — covers most global panel specs without a second variant.
