Rated current and voltage envelope
The 3RW5077-6AB05 is a Siemens SIRIUS soft starter rated for a minimum operating current of 240 A across a 200-600 V supply range. The trip class is configurable as CLASS 10A, 10E (preset), or 20E per IEC 60947-4-2.
Hazardous-area and global approvals
ATEX and IECEx certification are listed on this variant — the soft starter may be installed in Zone 2 or Zone 22 gas/dust atmospheres, per the equipment group and temperature class on the nameplate. This is a distinguishing feature: not all 3RW5 frame sizes carry ATEX, so the -6AB05 suffix confirms the hazardous-area rating. UL, CSA, and CE marking are all present, covering North American and European installation codes. For a tender submission or panel build destined for a CE-marked machine, the CE declaration of conformity is available from Siemens per the standard documentation package.
Fieldbus and control interface
The base unit supports PROFIBUS, PROFINET (standard), Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP — all listed as native, not requiring an external gateway module. This covers the three dominant industrial Ethernet protocols plus the legacy fieldbus, so the starter slots into a Siemens S7-1500 environment or a Rockwell ControlLogix network without a protocol converter. PROFIenergy is supported when paired with the PROFINET communication module, enabling energy-management profiles during idle phases — relevant for pump and fan applications where the motor coasts between cycles. The analog output is configurable as 4-20 mA (default) or 0-10 V, parameterizable via the High Feature HMI. This feeds motor current or power data to a PLC analog input or a local panel meter without a separate transducer.
Mounting and thermal derating
Mounting is screw-fix to a vertical surface, with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt forward/backward allowed. Clearance requirements: 100 mm upward, 75 mm downward, 10 mm forward, 0 mm backward, 5 mm at the sides. The 0 mm backward clearance means the unit can sit flush against the back panel, saving depth in a shallow enclosure. For a panel build in a non-conditioned enclosure, the internal ambient rise must be calculated against the 40 °C threshold — at 50 °C ambient, expect a current derating of approximately 1.5% per °C above 40 °C, though the exact curve is in the Siemens manual. Physical dimensions: 282 mm depth, 160 mm width, 230 mm height. The width fits a standard 160 mm DIN-rail footprint, but note the fastening method is screw-fix, not snap-on — the unit bolts to the mounting plate.
Starting modes and load protection
Voltage ramp and soft torque are both available — voltage ramp is the standard soft-start profile, while soft torque applies a current-limiting ramp that reduces mechanical shock on belt-driven or gear-coupled loads. Pump ramp down is also listed, which extends the deceleration time to prevent water hammer in pump applications. Torque control is not available on this unit — if the application requires closed-loop torque regulation during start (e.g., for tension control), a different SIRIUS variant or a VFD would be needed. Auto-reset and remote reset (by cycling the 24 V DC control supply) are both supported, allowing the starter to re-crank after a fault without a manual panel visit — useful for remote pumping stations.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
No stock-holding claim is made; the supply posture is per-RFQ confirmation.
