What this soft starter does
The Siemens 3RW5124-1XC14 is a SIRIUS soft starter sized for three-phase induction motors on 200-480 VAC supplies. It offers voltage ramp and soft torque starting modes, with a default CLASS 10A trip class per IEC 60947-4-2 — meaning it protects the motor during start-up by allowing a 10-second overload at 7.2x rated current before tripping. You can also set it to CLASS 10E or 20E for heavier starts like crushers or centrifuges. Minimum load is 15% of the smallest settable Ie, so it handles lightly loaded conveyors or pumps without nuisance tripping. The unit supports inside-delta wiring for reduced line current on larger motors.
Fieldbus and control integration
This soft starter ships with PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, and PROFINET on board — no option card needed. The control circuit uses screw-type terminals. Analog output is 4-20 mA (default) or 0-10 V, parameterizable through the High Feature HMI. Remote reset works by cycling the control supply voltage. Mounting is screw-fix on a vertical surface, with ±10° rotation allowed. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm forward, 5 mm at the sides, 0 mm backward. The unit measures 321 mm high by 185 mm wide by 203 mm deep — plan your enclosure gland plate and DIN rail accordingly.
