What this soft starter covers — motor range and starting profile
The 3RW5127-1XC14: Trip Class defaults to CLASS 10A per IEC 60947-4-2, with selectable 10E and 20E profiles. For a pump or conveyor start that clears in under 10 seconds, the 10A setting holds; for high-inertia loads like a centrifuge that need a longer ramp, switch to 20E to avoid nuisance tripping on the overload curve.
Fieldbus and control wiring — no extra modules needed
PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, and PROFINET are all onboard — one unit covers the three common industrial fieldbuses without a separate communication module. The control circuit terminates at screw-type terminals, so expect a screwdriver for the signal wiring, not a push-in tool. The analog output defaults to 4-20 mA and can be parameterized to 0-10 V through the High Feature HMI. That single output feeds motor current or power data back to the PLC without a separate transducer.
Mounting and panel clearance — screw-fixed, not DIN-rail
This unit is screw-fixed to the backplate — no DIN-rail latch. Dimensions are 203 mm deep, 185 mm wide, 321 mm tall. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 10 mm in front, 75 mm below, 5 mm at the sides, and zero behind. That zero backwards clearance means it can sit flush against the panel rear wall. Mounting position allows vertical surface orientation with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt forward/back. For a panel layout, that gives flexibility to align the HMI display toward the door opening.
Thermal environment and derating — watch the panel ambient
If the panel ambient hits 50 °C, the continuous current rating drops — the datasheet derating curve is the reference for sizing. Shock resistance is 15 g at 11 ms, with potential contact lifting above 12 g. Vibration rating is 15 mm at 6 Hz and 2 g up to 500 Hz. These numbers matter if the soft starter mounts on a machine frame rather than a building floor.
