The 3RW5135-1XC14 is a SIRIUS soft starter rated for a minimum load current of 68 A across a 200-480 V supply range. That voltage window covers common global line voltages — 208 V, 230 V, 400 V, 460 V — without needing a different tap or module. Trip class is configurable: CLASS 10A (default), 10E, or 20E per IEC 60947-4-2. CLASS 10A clears a stalled rotor in 10 seconds at 7.2× Ie — standard for most pump and fan starts. In a 50 °C panel, expect to reduce the continuous current rating per the manufacturer's curve — plan the thermal budget around the enclosure's internal rise, not the room temperature.
Fieldbus and HMI — integration into an existing control architecture
Onboard fieldbus options include PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, and PROFINET — no external gateway needed for the three most common industrial Ethernet and serial networks. The integrated HMI offers both Standard and High Feature variants. The High Feature HMI enables parameterization of the analog output — configurable as 4-20 mA (default) or 0-10 V — and supports firmware updates and an error logbook for on-site diagnostics without a laptop. Soft Torque and Voltage Ramp starting modes are selectable, with starting voltage adjustable from 30% to 100% and stopping voltage fixed at 50%. This lets you tune the acceleration profile to the load — a conveyor needs a soft ramp, a compressor can take a faster voltage ramp.
Panel mounting and clearances — fitting into an existing enclosure
Mounting is by screw fixing — no DIN rail clip. Overall dimensions are 324 mm height, 185 mm width, 203 mm depth. The depth is the critical dimension for shallow enclosures; at 203 mm it fits most standard 300 mm deep cabinets with room for the wiring duct. Required clearances around the unit: 100 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 0 mm backwards, 75 mm downwards, and 5 mm at the sides. The zero rear clearance means it can sit flush against the back panel — useful when retrofitting into a crowded enclosure.
The control circuit uses screw-type terminals — standard for panel wiring, no special tooling needed. Inside-delta circuit connection is supported, which reduces the soft starter current rating requirement by 58% compared to in-line connection — useful when upsizing the motor but keeping the same soft starter frame.
