Mounting and panel fit — 417 × 210 × 203 mm
The 3RW5146-1XC14 measures 417 mm high, 210 mm wide, and 203 mm deep, with screw fixing to the mounting surface. Clearance requirements are specified: 100 mm upwards, 75 mm downwards, 10 mm forwards, 5 mm at the side, and 0 mm backwards. The mounting position allows ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt forward/backward from vertical. At 417 mm height, this unit occupies substantial vertical panel space. The 0 mm rear clearance means it can sit flush against a backplate, simplifying enclosure layout when depth is constrained.
Motor control ratings and trip class
Rated for a minimum operating current of 160 A across a supply voltage range of 200 to 480 V at 50 or 60 Hz. The trip class is selectable: CLASS 10A (default), 10E, or 20E per IEC 60947-4-2. The minimum load setting is 15% of the smallest settable Ie, which gives the soft starter the flexibility to handle lightly loaded motors without nuisance tripping. A service factor of 1 is specified.
Fieldbus and HMI connectivity
Built-in PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, and PROFINET interfaces allow direct integration into common industrial networks without external gateways. The control circuit uses screw-type terminals. An analog output is configurable as 4–20 mA (default) or 0–10 V with the High Feature HMI, providing motor current or other process feedback to a PLC or drive panel meter. Two HMI variants are supported: a standard HMI and a High Feature HMI. The High Feature unit enables parameterization of the analog output signal type and access to the error logbook.
Starting and stopping profile
Voltage ramp start is standard, with starting voltage adjustable from 30% to 100% of line voltage. The stopping voltage is fixed at 50% and non-adjustable. A Soft Torque profile is available for reducing mechanical shock on the load during acceleration. The unit supports inside-delta circuit wiring, which reduces the current rating required for the soft starter by approximately 42% compared to standard in-line connection. This is a key consideration when retrofitting into an existing motor starter cabinet with limited ampacity.
Environmental limits and mechanical endurance
Pollution degree 3 per IEC 60947-4-2 means the unit is suited for industrial environments with conductive dust or occasional condensation. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms (with potential contact lifting from 12 g / 11 ms), and vibration resistance is 15 mm at 6 Hz, 2 g to 500 Hz. These ratings support installation on machinery subject to moderate vibration, such as conveyor drives or compressor skids.
Reset and firmware capabilities
Auto-reset and remote reset are both supported — the remote reset is performed by cycling the control supply voltage off and on. Firmware updates are possible in the field, which is a consideration for validation engineers who need to document the firmware version at qualification.
