The 3RW5147-1XC14-0S is a Siemens SIRIUS 3RW5 soft starter with a minimum motor current of 200 A and a supply voltage range of 200 to 480 V. Trip class is configurable as CLASS 10A (default), 10E, or 20E per IEC 60947-4-2. CLASS 10A is the standard for standard-duty motor starts — it allows the soft starter to carry starting current for up to 10 seconds without tripping. Switch to CLASS 20E for high-inertia loads like centrifuges or large fans that need a longer acceleration ramp. The unit includes Soft Torque and Voltage Ramp starting profiles plus a Ramp-Down (Soft Stop) function. Soft Torque reduces mechanical shock on the load train during start; Soft Stop is useful on pumps to prevent water hammer. These are parameterized through the onboard HMI (Standard or High Feature) or via fieldbus.
Fieldbus and control integration
This variant ships with PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, and PROFINET on board — no separate communication module needed. That makes it a direct drop-in for Siemens S7-300/400/1200/1500 networks and any third-party controller speaking Modbus RTU or PROFINET. An analog output is provided, configurable as 4-20 mA (default) or 0-10 V (parameterizable with the High Feature HMI). This can be mapped to motor current, power, or temperature for a local panel meter or PLC analog input. The unit also logs errors to an onboard logbook accessible via HMI or fieldbus. Remote reset is supported by cycling the control supply voltage off and on — useful for clearing a fault from a remote HMI or PLC without a physical panel visit.
Mounting and environmental
Mounting is screw fixing only — no DIN-rail clip on this frame size. The enclosure measures 210 mm wide, 417 mm tall, and 203 mm deep. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm in front, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm behind. That zero rear clearance means it can sit flush against a backplate, saving panel depth. Shock rated at 15 g / 11 ms; vibration resistance to 2 g up to 500 Hz. This accommodates tight cabinet layouts where the soft starter must be mounted sideways or tilted.
For a critical-spare holding, one in the cabinet before a failure is the right call. The 3RW5 series has a long production tail, but any soft starter with this many fieldbus options and configurable trip classes is worth stocking if it protects a line you cannot afford to idle.
