The Siemens 3RW5213-1TC04 is a SIRIUS hybrid soft starter designed for three-phase induction motors on 200-480 V supplies. Its trip class — CLASS 10A by default, with selectable 10E or 20E per IEC 60947-4-2 — means it protects motors during start-up by limiting thermal stress, and the 10A setting clears a stalled rotor fast enough for most pump and fan loads without nuisance tripping. The minimum settable current is 5.5 A, so it covers smaller motors down to about 2.2 kW on a 400 V line.
Screw-fixing mount, 275 mm tall by 170 mm wide by 152 mm deep. Clearance callouts: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm in front, 5 mm at the sides, and zero behind — so it sits tight to the backplane, but you need headroom for cable entry and airflow. The mounting surface can tilt up to ±10° from vertical. Terminals accept two conductors per pole: 1.0–2.5 mm² and 2.5–10 mm². That covers standard motor cables up to 6 mm² for a 5.5 A minimum load without needing adapters.
Communications and control
Built-in fieldbus: PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP. No separate communication module needed — one order code covers the main protocols an integrator will encounter. PROFIenergy is supported when used with a PROFINET communication module, and the unit can be remotely reset by cycling the 24 V control supply. Soft Torque and Pump Ramp Down are standard — useful for reducing water hammer in pump starts and avoiding pressure surges on stop. No analog output, but the error logbook is available with an accessory.
Lifecycle and approvals
Marked as current production — no phase-out or NRND flag. CE, UL, and CSA approvals are all present, so it ships into North American and European panels without a certificate chase. Shock rated at 15 g / 11 ms, which is robust for general industrial panels but not extreme for mobile equipment.
