Motor starting profile and trip class
The 3RW5213-1TC15 is a Siemens soft starter rated for 200-600 V supply, with a minimum settable current of 5.5 A. Its trip class defaults to CLASS 10A per IEC 60947-4-2, but can be configured to 10E or 20E — meaning you can match the thermal overload curve to the motor's acceleration time: 10A for standard starts under 10 seconds, 20E for longer ramp-ups like conveyors or crushers. The soft torque feature and pump ramp down function are built in — the ramp down reduces pressure surges in pumping systems by extending the deceleration profile, while soft torque limits inrush on high-inertia loads without oversizing the starter.
Fieldbus and control integration
This unit ships with PROFIBUS onboard, plus support for Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard — you can drop it into a Siemens S7 environment or a Rockwell plant-floor network without a separate gateway module. PROFIenergy is supported when used with the PROFINET communication module, allowing energy management profiles during idle periods. Firmware updates are field-loadable, and an error logbook is accessible with the optional accessory. Remote reset is handled by cycling the control supply voltage — no physical button press needed for automated restart sequences.
Mounting and environmental limits
The 3RW5213-1TC15 measures 170 mm wide, 275 mm high, and 152 mm deep — screw-fixing mount, with a +/-10° rotation allowance on a vertical surface. Clearance requirements: 100 mm upwards, 75 mm downwards, 10 mm forwards, 5 mm at the sides, 0 mm backwards. That backwards zero means it can sit flush against a backplate, saving panel depth. Shock rated at 15 g / 11 ms, with potential contact lifting noted at 12 g / 11 ms.
Terminal wiring and approvals
Power terminals accept solid wire: 2x (1.0-2.5 mm²) and 2x (2.5-10 mm²) — covers standard motor cable sizes up to 10 mm². UL and CSA approved, CE marked — the compliance documentation covers the major North American and European jurisdictions without extra certification legwork.
