Trip Class and motor protection — what the 10A/10E/20E rating means
The 3RW5214-1TC04 is configured with Trip Class 10A as default, with selectable 10E and 20E options per IEC 60947-4-2. The minimum settable current is 7.5 A, and the minimum load is 15 % relative to the smallest settable Ie — this sets the floor for motor sizing. If your motor FLA is below 7.5 A, this starter is oversized; you'd need a smaller frame.
Voltage range and fieldbus integration — panel-fit checklist
Rated voltage is 200-480 V AC — this covers the common North American 208/240/480 V and European 400 V three-phase systems. The control supply is 24 V DC, standard for modern PLC cabinets. Fieldbus options include PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET — all on-board, no separate communication module needed for most networks. PROFIenergy is supported when used with the PROFINET communication module. Mounting is screw-fix to a vertical surface, with ±10° rotation tolerance and 100 mm upward clearance, 75 mm downward, 10 mm forward, 5 mm sideways, and 0 mm backward — tight panel integration is possible but the upward clearance is the binding constraint for airflow.
Active production and sourcing posture
Approvals include CE, UL, and CSA — the part carries the marks needed for European and North American panel builds.
Application features — pump ramp down and soft torque
Pump Ramp Down is available — this feature gradually reduces voltage during stop to prevent water hammer in pumping systems. Soft Torque reduces the initial torque spike during start, protecting belt-driven loads and gearboxes. Auto-reset and remote reset (by cycling the 24 V control supply) are supported, reducing the need for a manual reset after a fault. The error logbook is available but only with special accessories — not standard. Firmware updates are field-upgradeable, which allows parameter or feature updates without replacing the unit.
