Rated voltage and motor current range — what fits
The 3RW5214-3AC14: Rated 200 to 480 V, covering the common low-voltage motor networks in North America (208, 240, 480 V) and Europe (230, 400 V). The minimum settable motor current is 7.5 A, so this starter is sized for motor FLA down to that floor — anything smaller needs a different frame. Also selectable 10E or 20E for longer acceleration profiles.
Mounting and clearance — panel layout constraints
Screw-fixing mount, 275 mm high, 170 mm wide, 152 mm deep. Requires 100 mm free space above, 75 mm below, 10 mm forward, 5 mm sideways, 0 mm backward — tight on the rear, so the panel backplane must be clear behind the mounting plate. Mounting position allows ±10° tilt from vertical, so a slight rack angle in the enclosure is acceptable.
Fieldbus and control integration
PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard — covers the four major industrial Ethernet and serial fieldbuses. PROFIenergy supported via the PROFINET communication module for energy management during idle phases. Analog output configurable as 4-20 mA (default) or 0-10 V for feeding motor current or load signal to a PLC or local display. Remote reset by cycling the control supply voltage — useful for unattended restart after a fault.
Environmental limits and approvals
Operating ambient -25 to +60 °C, with derating required above 40 °C — plan the panel ventilation if the enclosure ambient exceeds 40 °C. Shock resistance 15 g / 11 ms (12 g with potential contact lifting). UL, CSA, and CE marked — accepted for North American and European installations without additional agency review.
