Trip class and starting duty
The 3RW5215-3TC15 is configured for Class 10A as default, with selectable Class 10E and Class 20E per IEC 60947-4-2. The 10E and 20E options extend the thermal budget for longer ramp times on loads like centrifuges or crushers. Minimum operating current is 11.5 A, with a minimum load of 15 % relative to the smallest settable Ie. Below that threshold the current sensing may not resolve accurately, so the unit is sized for motors drawing at least 11.5 A at full load.
Line voltage and control supply
Rated operational voltage spans 200... 600 V AC, covering the common global low-voltage motor networks: 208 V, 240 V, 400 V, 480 V, and 575 V systems. Ambient operating range is -25... +60 °C, with derating required above 40 °C. In a non-ventilated enclosure at 50 °C ambient, expect to reduce the continuous current rating per the derating curve in the manual — the spec table flags this explicitly.
Fieldbus and integration
The unit ships with onboard PROFIBUS DP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard connectivity. PROFIenergy is supported when used with the PROFINET communication module, enabling energy-management profiles during idle periods. This is a multi-protocol soft starter — no separate gateway module needed for most plant-floor networks. Clearance requirements: 100 mm upwards, 75 mm downwards, 10 mm forwards, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm backwards — the back can sit flush against the panel backplate. Overall dimensions are 275 mm height, 170 mm width, 152 mm depth. Solid wire terminations accept 2x (1.0... 2.5 mm²) and 2x (2.5... 10 mm²) — the dual-entry allows daisy-chaining the line and load conductors without separate terminal blocks for the power circuit.
