What this soft starter does on your motor circuit
The Siemens 3RW5216-1AC14 is a hybrid soft starter for three-phase induction motors on 200-480 V supplies. Default trip class is CLASS 10A per IEC 60947-4-2, with minimum settable current of 14 A.
Fieldbus and control wiring
This soft starter ships with onboard PROFIBUS DP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard communication — you don't need a separate gateway module for most networks. The control supply voltage accepts 110-250 V AC at 50 or 60 Hz. For analog feedback, it provides a 4-20 mA output by default, parameterizable to 0-10 V if you pair it with the High Feature HMI accessory. Remote reset is handled by cycling the control supply voltage off then on. The power terminals accept 2x 1.0-2.5 mm² and 2x 2.5-10 mm² solid or stranded conductors.
The unit measures 275 mm high, 170 mm wide, and 152 mm deep, and mounts via screw fixing on a vertical surface. It can be rotated ±90° or tilted ±22.5° front-to-back. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm forward, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm backward — plan your enclosure layout accordingly. Shock resistance is 15 g for 11 ms, with potential contact lifting above 12 g.
