The 3RW5217-3AC05: Trip Class 10A is the default setting per IEC 60947-4-2, meaning it protects standard squirrel-cage motors during start-up without nuisance tripping on normal acceleration profiles for pumps, fans, and compressors. Fieldbus connectivity includes PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET onboard — no separate communication module needed for most common industrial networks.
Panel fit and ambient limits
Mounts via screw fixing to a vertical surface; the enclosure dimensions are 275 mm height, 170 mm width, and 152 mm depth — confirm the backpanel clearance before layout. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm front, 5 mm sides, 0 mm rear. Solid wire terminals accept 2x (1.0-2.5 mm²) and 2x (2.5-10 mm²) — suitable for standard control and power wiring without compression lugs.
Carries both UL and CSA approvals, plus CE marking — accepted in North American and European installations without additional agency review. Service factor is 1.0 — no overload margin beyond nameplate rating; set the motor FLA accurately in the soft starter parameters. Vibration resistance tested to 15 g / 11 ms shock, with potential contact lifting above 12 g / 11 ms — adequate for standard industrial environments but verify for high-shock applications.
