What the trip class and voltage range mean for your motor start
The 3RW5224-3AC15 is a SIRIUS soft starter rated for a minimum operating current of 20 A at 200-600 V, with trip classes 10A (default), 10E, and 20E per IEC 60947-4-2. This simplifies stocking for multi-voltage sites.
Fieldbus integration and analog feedback
This soft starter supports PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET with PROFIenergy — all onboard. No separate communication module is needed for these protocols, which simplifies the BOM and reduces panel wiring. The analog output is configurable as 4-20 mA or 0-10 V (via the High Feature HMI), giving the PLC a direct current or voltage signal proportional to motor current. This is useful for remote monitoring without a fieldbus gateway.
Mounting clearances and ambient derating
The unit is screw-fixed and requires 100 mm clearance upwards, 75 mm downwards, 10 mm forwards, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm backwards. These are the minimum free-air gaps for convection cooling — tighter spacing will require derating or forced ventilation. The 306 x 185 x 203 mm envelope fits standard 600 mm deep enclosures with room for gland plates.
Approvals include CE, UL, and CSA — the part is accepted in North American and European installations without additional certification work.
