The Siemens 3RW5226-1TC14 is a SIRIUS soft starter rated for a minimum motor current of 32 A at a supply voltage of 200 to 480 VAC. The Trip Class 10A default (also configurable to 10E or 20E per IEC 60947-4-2) means it is designed to protect standard squirrel-cage induction motors during start-up — Class 10A clears the start within 10 seconds at 7.2× rated current, which suits most pump, fan, and compressor applications where the load does not require an extended acceleration ramp. The 32 A minimum rating governs the smallest motor you can protect; for smaller motors, a lower-rated unit in the 3RW52 family would be the correct fit.
Fieldbus and control integration
This unit ships with native support for PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET (with PROFIenergy capability via the PROFINET communication module). That means it drops directly into a multi-vendor automation architecture without a separate gateway — the controls integrator can address it over the same network as the PLC and drives. The Modbus TCP and EtherNet/IP support is particularly useful for retrofit projects where the existing control layer uses those protocols. Remote reset is achieved by cycling the control supply voltage, which simplifies remote restart logic.
The 3RW5226-1TC14 measures 306 mm high by 185 mm wide by 203 mm deep and uses screw fixing to a vertical mounting surface. It can be rotated ±90° or tilted ±22.5° front-to-back, which gives panel builders flexibility in tight enclosures. Clearance requirements are asymmetrical: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm forward, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm backward — so plan for vertical airflow space, not side gaps. Shock resistance is rated at 15 g / 11 ms, with potential contact lifting above 12 g / 11 ms — relevant for mobile or high-vibration installations.
