Trip Class and Motor Protection
The 3RW5226-3AC15 ships with Trip Class 10A as the default setting, per IEC 60947-4-2. Field-selectable to Class 10E or 20E if your load profile needs longer start duration, but 10A is the safe default for most general-purpose starts. Minimum load is 15 % of the smallest settable Ie. If your motor FLC is below that threshold, the soft starter may not trigger correctly — verify the motor nameplate against the adjustable current range before committing the BOM line.
Communications and Integration
This soft starter carries onboard PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP. No separate gateway module required for most PLC networks — direct connect to the control network saves a DIN-rail slot and a configuration step. PROFINET standard is also supported, with PROFIenergy available when paired with the PROFINET communication module. Analog output is configurable as 4-20 mA (default) or 0-10 V via the High Feature HMI. The HMI-High Feature is not included on this base unit — parameterization for 0-10 V output requires the optional HMI accessory. Firmware updates are supported, so the unit can be field-upgraded without replacement.
Mounting is screw fixing only — no DIN-rail clip on this frame size. The unit measures 306 mm high × 185 mm wide × 203 mm deep. Required clearances: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm in front, 0 mm behind, 5 mm at the sides. The zero rear clearance means it can sit flush against the back panel, but the 100 mm top clearance is non-negotiable for heat dissipation — panel layout must respect that.
Carries UL, CSA, and CE marking. Compliance documentation (UL file, CSA certificate, CE declaration) is available from the manufacturer. No RoHS or REACH statement is in the evidence, but standard Siemens industrial products are typically RoHS-compliant — confirm with the factory if your compliance audit requires a formal statement.
