What the 32 A minimum rating means for fit
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RW5226-3TC04 is a hybrid soft starter with a minimum operating current of 32 A, which means it is sized for motor loads drawing at least that much at full load — not a fractional-horsepower machine. The 200-480 V rated supply covers most common three-phase industrial voltages across North America and Europe. Trip Class 10A (default), 10E, or 20E per IEC 60947-4-2 gives you the choice: 10A for standard-start loads like pumps and fans where you need fast protection, or 20E for higher-inertia loads that take longer to spin up. The 24 V DC control supply is standard for modern PLC-driven panels. This is a current-production part — lifecycle status is active, so you are not chasing last-time-buy inventory.
Communication and control flexibility
The 3RW5226-3TC04 supports PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard. That covers essentially every major industrial Ethernet and fieldbus in use — no need for a separate gateway module for most plants. PROFIenergy is supported when used with the PROFINET communication module, useful for energy management during idle periods. It also includes Soft Torque and Pump Ramp Down features, which reduce mechanical stress on the load and prevent water hammer in pump applications. Auto-reset and remote reset (by cycling the control supply voltage) are built in, so you can integrate it into automated restart sequences without an external timer.
Mounting and environmental considerations
Mounting is screw fixing onto a vertical surface, with the unit rotatable +/-90° and tiltable +/-22.5° front-to-back. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm forward, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm backward. The 306 x 185 x 203 mm (HxWxD) footprint fits standard enclosure backplates, but plan for the 100 mm top clearance — that is the tightest dimension. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms (12 g / 11 ms with potential contact lifting).
