40.5 A minimum — what that means for motor sizing
The 3RW5227-1TC04 is a SIRIUS soft starter with a minimum settable current of 40.5 A. That floor governs the smallest motor it can protect — anything below that and the trip curve won't engage properly. The rated voltage range is 200 to 480 V, covering common low-voltage three-phase supplies across North America and Europe. Trip class is configurable: CLASS 10A by default, with 10E and 20E selectable per IEC 60947-4-2.
Fieldbus options — PROFIBUS, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET
This soft starter ships with onboard PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET — no separate communication module needed for most networks. PROFIenergy is supported in conjunction with the PROFINET standard communication module. The control supply is 24 V DC. Remote reset is possible by cycling the control supply voltage. Firmware updates are supported, and an error logbook is available with special accessories.
Mounting and clearances — screw-fix, 306×185×203 mm
Fastening method is screw fixing. Dimensions: height 306 mm, width 185 mm, depth 203 mm. Mounting position allows vertical surface with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt front/back. Clearance requirements: 100 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 0 mm backwards, 75 mm downwards, 5 mm at the sides. These are the minimum air gaps for heat dissipation and arc flash — don't crowd it in a tight panel.
Lifecycle and compliance — active, UL/CSA/CE
Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, dropping to 12 g / 11 ms with potential contact lifting. Service factor is 1.
