The Siemens 3RW5235-6AC04 is a SIRIUS soft starter — a hybrid switching device that ramps motor voltage up and down to limit inrush current and mechanical stress during start and stop. It's sized for a minimum motor load of 68 A (relative to the smallest settable Ie) and accepts a supply of 200 to 480 V. The Trip Class is configurable: default CLASS 10A, or select CLASS 10E or CLASS 20E per IEC 60947-4-2, which governs the thermal overload protection curve for the motor. Control voltage is 24 V DC, and the unit includes a 4-20 mA analog output (default) or 0-10 V (parameterizable with the High Feature HMI). It also supports Soft Torque and Pump Ramp Down — useful for reducing pressure surges in pump applications.
Fieldbus and communication options
This soft starter comes with onboard PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard. PROFIenergy is supported in connection with the PROFINET Standard communication module. That's a wide fieldbus palette — covers most PLC backbones without needing an extra gateway card.
Mounting and environmental ratings
Mounting is screw fixing on a vertical surface, rotatable ±90° and tiltable ±22.5° front-to-back. Dimensions: 306 mm high, 185 mm wide, 203 mm deep. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 10 mm in front, 75 mm below, 5 mm at the sides, 0 mm behind. Pollution degree 3 per IEC 60947-4-2, shock resistance 15 g / 11 ms (12 g / 11 ms with potential contact lifting).
