Motor starting profile and trip class
The 3RW5235-6AC05 is a SIRIUS soft starter rated for a minimum operating current of 68 A, meaning it handles motor loads from that floor upward — not suitable for fractional-horsepower motors below that threshold. Trip class defaults to CLASS 10A per IEC 60947-4-2, with selectable 10E and 20E for heavier start profiles like crushers or centrifuges. Voltage range spans 200 to 600 V, covering 208 V, 400 V, and 480 V global supplies without a tap change. Ambient rating is -25 to +60 °C during operation, but derating applies above 40 °C — relevant if the starter sits near a furnace or in a non-ventilated enclosure.
Screw fixing to a vertical mounting surface; the unit can be rotated ±90° or tilted ±22.5° forward/back, giving flexibility in tight cabinets. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 10 mm forward, 75 mm below, 5 mm at the sides — plan the gland plate and busbar runs accordingly. Dimensions are 306 mm high, 185 mm wide, 203 mm deep. The hybrid switching device category means it combines semiconductor and contactor paths for reduced heat dissipation during run.
Fieldbus and control features
Onboard PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard — no separate gateway module needed. PROFINET also supports PROFIenergy for coordinated energy management during pauses. Analog output configurable as 4-20 mA (default) or 0-10 V via the High Feature HMI parameterization. Remote reset by cycling the 24 V control supply — useful for unmanned stations. Soft Torque and Pump Ramp Down are built in, reducing mechanical shock on belts and fluid hammer in pipelines. Torque Control is not available on this variant.
Lifecycle and compliance
Pollution degree 3 per IEC 60947-4-2, meaning it tolerates conductive dust and occasional condensation typical in mill environments. Shock resistance rated 15 g / 11 ms, with potential contact lifting above 12 g.
