The Siemens 3RW5236-6AC04 is a SIRIUS soft starter rated for a supply voltage of 200... 480 V, with a minimum settable operating current of 81 A. The Trip Class defaults to CLASS 10A per IEC 60947-4-2, but is field-selectable to 10E or 20E — meaning you can match the thermal overload curve to the motor start profile: CLASS 10A for standard starts, 10E for extended acceleration, 20E for high-inertia loads that need a longer ramp without nuisance tripping. The unit supports soft torque and pump ramp down, which reduces mechanical shock on the load train during start and stop — useful for centrifugal pumps or conveyor belts where water hammer or load shift is a concern.
Fieldbus and I/O — what connects where
This soft starter carries onboard PROFIBUS, PROFINET (with PROFIenergy profile), Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP — so it drops into most common automation architectures without an external gateway. The analog output is configurable as 4... 20 mA (default) or 0... 10 V via the High Feature HMI parameterization tool, giving you a speed or current signal back to the PLC or drive panel. Remote reset is accomplished by cycling the 24 V DC control supply voltage. An auto-reset function is also available, which the commissioning engineer should enable only after confirming the driven load will not cause a hazard on automatic restart.
Mounting and environment — panel fit
Dimensions are 306 mm high, 185 mm wide, 203 mm deep. Fastening is by screw fixing onto a vertical mounting surface; the unit can be rotated ±90° or tilted ±22.5° front-to-back. Clearance requirements: 100 mm upwards, 75 mm downwards, 10 mm forwards, 5 mm at the sides, 0 mm backwards — plan the enclosure layout accordingly, especially the upward space for heat dissipation. Operating ambient temperature range is -25... +60 °C, with derating required at 40 °C or above. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms (12 g / 11 ms with potential contact lifting).
