The 3RW5244-2AC14 measures 203 mm deep, 210 mm wide, and 393 mm high — a substantial frame that needs a backplate cutout sized for screw fixing. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm in front, 0 mm behind, 5 mm at the sides — plan the gland plate and busbar runs accordingly.
Motor protection and starting profile — Trip Class 10A default
The soft starter is set to Trip Class 10A by default, per IEC 60947-4-2, meaning it allows a 10-second overload at 7.2× rated current before tripping — standard for starting most squirrel-cage motors without nuisance trips. Minimum load is 15% of the smallest settable Ie — so if you're running a motor well below 100 A, the starter still regulates current down to that floor. Soft torque and pump ramp down are built in — reduces mechanical shock on belts, gears, and piping during start and stop.
Fieldbus and control — PROFIBUS, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET
The starter ships with PROFIBUS onboard, plus Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard — no extra communication module needed for most networks. PROFIenergy is supported when used with the PROFINET standard communication module — allows coordinated power-down during idle periods in automated lines. Analog output is configurable as 4-20 mA or 0-10 V (via the High Feature HMI) — feeds motor current or load signal to a PLC or panel meter.
UL, CSA, and CE markings are confirmed — accepted for panel builds in North America and the EU without additional certification.
