Soft starter for motor starting duty
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RW5244-6TC04 is a hybrid switching device — a soft starter — sized for motor starting applications up to 100 A minimum load (relative to smallest settable Ie) on a 200 to 480 V supply. Its Trip Class 10A default, with selectable 10E and 20E curves per IEC 60947-4-2, means it handles standard and heavy-start loads: Class 10A clears within 10 seconds at locked-rotor current, while Class 20E extends that window for high-inertia loads like centrifuges or crushers. The 100 A minimum rating governs the smallest motor it can soft-start; for smaller motors, a lower-rated unit would be needed.
Multi-protocol fieldbus and motor control features
This soft starter ships with onboard PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard — no separate communication module required for most networks. PROFIenergy is supported in conjunction with the PROFINET standard communication module. The unit includes soft torque for gentle starts on conveyors or pumps, and a pump ramp-down function to reduce water hammer on pump stop. Auto-reset and remote reset (by cycling the 24 V DC control supply) are built in. An error logbook is available only with special accessories.
Mounting, environment, and approvals
Mounting is screw fixing on a vertical surface, rotatable ±90° and tiltable ±22.5° front-to-back. Dimensions: 393 mm height, 210 mm width, 203 mm depth. Pollution degree 3 per IEC 60947-4-2. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms. The control supply is 24 V DC.
