The Siemens 3RW5244-6TC15 is a SIRIUS hybrid soft starter rated for a minimum motor current of 100 A at line voltages from 200 to 600 VAC (50/60 Hz). The Trip Class is configurable as CLASS 10A (default), 10E, or 20E per IEC 60947-4-2 — 10A is the standard for standard-start pumps and fans where the motor reaches full speed in under 10 seconds; 20E buys you extra thermal headroom for high-inertia loads like centrifuges or large conveyors that take longer to accelerate. The 100 A minimum rating means this unit is sized for motor FLA at or above that figure — it does not scale down to a 75 A motor without risking nuisance tripping on the minimum-load threshold of 15% of the smallest settable Ie. The 3RW5244-6TC15 carries a full suite of fieldbus interfaces onboard: PROFINET standard, PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP. That means it drops into a greenfield PROFINET line or a legacy Modbus RTU multidrop without an external gateway. PROFIenergy is supported in conjunction with the PROFINET communication module, which lets the drive park the motor during idle periods in a production cell and save standby energy.
Mounting is screw-fixing only — no DIN-rail clip on this frame size. The unit measures 393 mm high by 210 mm wide by 203 mm deep, so plan for a backplate area roughly 400 x 220 mm with clearance: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm in front, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm behind. The mounting surface must be vertical; the unit can be rotated ±90° or tilted ±22.5° front-to-back. Shock resistance is rated at 15 g / 11 ms, with potential contact lifting starting at 12 g / 11 ms — the contactor section inside the hybrid switch can bounce under sustained vibration above that threshold, so mount on a panel that does not transmit heavy mechanical shock from adjacent contactors or breakers.
