The 3RW5245-6AC15 is a SIRIUS hybrid switching device rated for a minimum motor current of 135 A at a rated voltage of 200 to 600 V. This is the floor for the smallest settable Ie — you size the soft starter to the motor FLA, not the other way around, and the 135 A minimum means it won't reliably start a motor drawing less than about 20 A (15 % of 135 A). Trip class is selectable: CLASS 10A (default), 10E, or 20E per IEC 60947-4-2. Class 10A clears an overload in 10 seconds at 7.2× Ie — standard for most pump and fan starts. Class 20E extends the thermal budget to 20 seconds, useful for high-inertia loads like centrifuges where the start takes longer. Soft torque and pump ramp down are built in, so the acceleration and deceleration profiles can be tuned to avoid water hammer in pumping stations or mechanical shock on conveyor belts.
Fieldbus and control integration
This soft starter ships with PROFINET standard onboard, plus Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFIBUS. That means it drops into most common industrial networks without an extra gateway — one cable for control and parameterization. PROFIenergy is supported when used with the PROFINET communication module, allowing energy management during idle phases — relevant for production lines with scheduled stops. The analog output is configurable as 4-20 mA (default) or 0-10 V, parameterizable via the High Feature HMI (not included). This feeds motor current or load data to a PLC or SCADA without a separate transducer.
Mounting and clearance — what fits in the panel
Dimensions are 203 mm depth, 210 mm width, 393 mm height. Mounting is screw fixing to a vertical surface; the unit can be rotated ±90° and tilted ±22.5° front-to-back, so it fits in tight enclosures as long as the orientation doesn't block the cooling airflow. Minimum clearance around the unit: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm in front, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm behind. The 100 mm top clearance is the critical one — that's where hot air rises; skimping here derates the unit above 40 °C ambient.
Approvals include UL, CSA, and CE marking — covers North American and European installations without separate certification paperwork. The shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, which is typical for industrial panel-mounted gear — fine for most conveyor and pump applications.
