Field-fit and electrical ratings
The 3RW5245-6TC04 is a SIRIUS hybrid switching device — a soft starter built for three-phase induction motors up to 135 A minimum rated operational current (Ie) across a 200-480 V supply range. Trip class is selectable: default CLASS 10A, with CLASS 10E and CLASS 20E available per IEC 60947-4-2. That means it handles the inrush of a standard squirrel-cage motor without nuisance tripping, but still protects against a locked-rotor condition within the 10- or 20-second thermal limit. Minimum load is 15% of the smallest settable Ie — if the motor is oversized relative to the starter, the controller may not detect a valid load.
Communications and fieldbus options
This soft starter ships with onboard PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard — no separate communication module needed for common industrial networks. PROFIenergy is supported via the PROFINET standard communication module, allowing coordinated energy management during idle phases. Firmware updates are field-loadable, so a network change or bug fix doesn't require swapping the unit.
Mounting and environmental limits
Fastening is screw fixing; the unit measures 393 mm high by 210 mm wide by 203 mm deep. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm forward, 5 mm at the sides, 0 mm backward — plan the gland plate and busbar routing accordingly. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, dropping to 12 g / 11 ms if contact lifting is a concern.

Carries CE, UL, and CSA approvals — accepted across European and North American jurisdictions without additional certification delays. Degree of pollution is 3 per IEC 60947-4-2, meaning the unit is rated for conductive pollution environments typical of industrial control panels.
Application-specific features
Includes soft torque and pump ramp down — the soft torque profile reduces mechanical shock on belt-driven loads, and the pump ramp down prevents water hammer on pump deceleration. Auto-reset and remote reset (by cycling the 24 V control supply) are built in, so a fault that clears itself doesn't require a panel visit. Error logbook is available, but only with the special accessory — budget for that if trending faults is part of the maintenance plan.
