This Siemens SIRIUS 3RW5246-2TC04 is a hybrid soft starter rated for 160 A at 200-480 V, designed to ramp three-phase induction motors up and down without the mechanical shock of a direct-on-line start. It's built for the panel — screw fixing, 393 mm high, 210 mm wide, 203 mm deep — and needs 100 mm clearance above, 75 mm below, and 10 mm forward for airflow and wiring access. The trip class defaults to CLASS 10A per IEC 60947-4-2, but is field-selectable to 10E or 20E, giving you the flexibility to match the motor's thermal withstand curve without swapping hardware.
Fieldbus and control integration
This soft starter ships with onboard PROFINET standard, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFIBUS — no separate communication module to order for those protocols. PROFIenergy is supported when used with the PROFINET standard communication module, letting the plant energy management system shut down the motor during idle periods. Control supply is 24 V DC; remote reset is possible by cycling that control voltage.
Application features: pump ramp down and soft torque
Pump Ramp Down is built in — it extends the deceleration time to prevent water hammer in pumping systems. Soft Torque is also available, useful for reducing mechanical stress on the driven load during start-up. The unit supports firmware updates in the field, so you can add features or fix bugs without swapping the device.
Carries UL, CSA, and CE marking — accepted in North American and European panels without additional certification paperwork. Pollution degree 3 per IEC 60947-4-2, meaning it's rated for the conductive-dust and moisture conditions typical in industrial control rooms.
